I chose Second Lieutenant Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu, 28th (Maori) Battalion, 2 NZEF. Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu is the first Maori to get an VC. He took part in the assault at Tebaga Gap, Tunisia, in March 1943. The battalion’s objective was a strategically important hill known as Point 209. The first task was to take high ground below the summit. Ngārimu led his platoon up one of these lower hills on 26 March, personally knocking out several machine-gun posts.

Hi Sam,
Wow, you did a great job on this post!

W2 - Day 4 - Activity 1: An Eventful Experience: I really liked how you summarised the events well. One thing only, for The Japanese invasion of Burma, I don't think that the picture you used relate to this event. Could you find an image that is specific for this invasion? In order for you to gain full points for this activity I will need you to do that and let me know.

W2 - Day 4 - activity 2: This is a fantastic post, I really liked that you did choose Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu and the fact that he was the first maori to win the VC made your written very interesting. What a brave men he was! Furthermore, it's great that you added a picture of him as this made your post really captivating. Well done!

Keep up the great work!
Kia kaha,
Patricia
